Disappointing Civic Water Features: #1 Emlyn Hughes House, Barrow-In-Furness

Nothing can dispel the numbing melancholy of a disappointing civic water feature. How exciting it must be for town planners, architects and councillors; to study the latest "artist's impression" of the latest town plaza design; what fun, to recreate continental cafe culture in dull, provincial England.

If Las Vegas can have the Bellagio fountains, then Barrow-in-Furness can have these little beauties to adorn the pavement outside Emlyn Hughes House.

Note the water trails on the pavement. The force of the water is too feeble to withstand even the slightest whiff of wind. The gentleman in overalls is a plumber, employed "to see if anything can be done". It seems that looking at them may help. Where's your manometer, pal? Measuring the flow rates, there are we? Checking the pressure with your special eyes? Eh? EH?

Switch them off, mate; they're crap and they bring shame on the town with their feebleness.
